Is AI Finally Winning Over the Workplace?
Press Release | January, 2025

Dutch software developer Klippa surveyed 485 employees in three major markets – EU, NA, and UK – with the result showing that perception on AI use is on a vastly positive trend. The research report highlights that 85.3% of respondents expressed generally positive views, for example crediting AI for boosting productivity and efficiency. Key challenges have also been identified in the form of some ethical concerns and very significant training gaps.
AI adoption drives positive perceptions
The State of Professional Perceptions on AI report reveals that more than 8 in 10 professionals see using AI at work in a positive manner, while their viewpoint on the technology has become more optimistic over the course of 2024. An overwhelming 87.8% of respondents agree that AI enhances their efficiency and productivity at work, especially through its role in automating repetitive tasks and enabling focus on higher-value activities. Notably, the banking and finance sector reported unanimous positivity, with 100% of respondents acknowledging AI’s transformative impact.
In our research as well as what we observe from our customers and partners, many knowledge workers see the time-saving benefits of AI. Whether it’s using AI as a writing assistant, automating the collection of information or automatically writing the first draft of a company’s performance report, AI is a time saver
More time for strategy and creativity
AI’s ability to handle routine tasks has empowered employees to direct their efforts towards more strategic and creative endeavors. The report notes that 40.2% of respondents credit AI with enabling this shift, leading to improved job satisfaction and innovative problem-solving within organizations.
Moreover, 70% of professionals would prefer to work for a company that balances the benefits of AI with job security and employee development. The importance of a human-centric approach which ensures that AI complements and not replaces human ingenuity is clearly stated.
The future of work must strike a balance between artificial intelligence and the human touch. As AI continues to disrupt job security, the resulting fears of displacement contribute to growing mental health issues like anxiety and depression. Since humans created AI, it’s essential that technology complements, rather than replaces, human input. Regular reviews of AI systems and datasets are crucial to ensure they are fit for purpose and do not undermine worker well-being
Ethical concerns and training deficits remain present
While the benefits of AI are evident, significant ethical concerns have been reported by the surveyed employees. Nearly half of respondents expressed still being worried about privacy, transparency, and potential biases in AI systems. These issues, coupled with fears of job displacement, are most pronounced in the UK, where nearly 33% of professionals reported anxiety about AI-related job loss, compared to just 10.5% in the EU.
Respondents from the IT sector, despite its close ties to the technology, indicated that they lag behind in training, signaling a critical area for improvement.
Training and upskilling employees is essential to ensure they fully benefit from the available AI tools. Providing structured training not only enhances their capabilities but also ensures the safe and effective use of AI, supporting a smooth and secure implementation process
