How does Klippa’s OCR software work?
With our AI-powered OCR software you can seamlessly extract unstructured data. See the four easy steps our software follows to automate document workflows together with UiPath.
Upload, scan or email documents to our platform.
The first step is sending us the document, either a scanned picture or a PDF file. This can be done from a mobile app, email, FTP, web application or UiPath’s platform via our API.
The document can be sent cropped or uncropped (with background). If it is sent uncropped, the Klippa API will automatically crop the document.
Image to text using OCR
As soon as a picture or PDF is sent, it is converted to a TXT file. In this step all the text from the document is extracted, but it is not yet structured.
Getting a response from the API
The Klippa Parser takes the TXT gained from the OCR in step 2 and converts it into structured JSON using machine learning. The JSON is then returned as output from the API.
From this point Klippa offers multiple additional steps depending on your workflow. Data can be processed, classified and/or verified with third party sources. The output can be delivered in a format of choice and delivered on a location of choice (API, email, FTP etc.).
The image on the left is a simplified example of a JSON response.

Process data in UiPath’s platform
Once the document goes through the processing cycle, the data is forwarded to your UiPath automation. There you have multiple ways to process your newly received structured data tailored to your needs.
You can equip your robots with the necessary data to enhance all your UiPath workflows. Automate bots’ responses to triggers and initiate seamless cross-system processes based on connected events, like purchase-to-pay or email campaigns.
